Shikra
It is a bird of prey mainly found in asia and Africa. It is also called a banded goshawk. The African form may represent separate species but are considered as sub species of shikra.The breeding season in india is from march to June. The nest is similar to that of the crows lined with grass both sexes build the nest being carried by their feet, like crows they also use metal wires. The clutch consists of 3 to 4 eggs. Incubation period is 21 days. The name shikra has its origins in the urdu word shikari and hindi word shikaaree both means hunter. The shikra is known by several common names. Ceylon shikra, Indian sparrow hawk, little banded goshawk, little banded sparrow hawk and shikra goshawk.
