Painted stork

It is a large wader in the stork family they are distributed over the plains of asia but are absent from dry and desert regions> they prefer fresh water wetlands in all seasons. Breeding ia always on large trees. Painted storks feed in groups. They feed mainly on small fish which they sense by touch while slowly sweeping their half open bill from side to side. They walk slowly on water and also disturb the water with their feet to flush fish. They also take frogs and snakes. After their feed they stand on shore for long durations. The breeding season is from mid august. A typical clutch of one to five eggs the incubation period is for one month and fledging period is for two months.
