Grey headed fish eagle
Before I comment on this bird let me tell you something about raptors. Raptor is a common term used to refer birds of prey which feed on other animals. Common traits are powerful beaks, strong talons, excellent eye sight, powerful ecesraptors. In India there are approximately 100 spieces of raptors. Raptors are often large in size with wing span reaching 6 feet. All raptors are predators with prey ranging from grass hoppers to mountain goats. All raptors have majestic and fierce look. A close look at the talons shows what the raptor is capable off. The talons help the raptor to grip the prey while killing and eating it. Raptors often carry their prey to different location, the sharp talons help to carry the prey while flying. The other key features are the powerful beak and eyesight. Raptors vision is so powerful that it can spot the prey kilometers away. They continuously adjust the curvature of the eyeballs to have a focus and perception. Night hunting owls have large eyes with binocular vision. The eyes are made more effectively by its ability to rotate the head by 270 degrees. The most familiar thing about the raptor is their soaring flight. Raptors are masters of the sky often gliding without even flapping their wings, while gliding they use powerful vision to locate their prey. During such flight they use thermals to aid their flight. Once the prey is spotted they circle the area and began to hunt. They swiftly dive down and kill them using their beaks and talons. During the dive reach speed of 150km/hr. Once the prey is killed the powerful beak tear down the prey. Some spieces swallow the whole prey if it is small. One such bird is the grey headed fish eagle. This bird is often seen flying over rivers searching for its prey. Raptors wait patiently for is prey. The grey headed fish eagle has long talons so that it can grip its prey strongly. The bill is strong, legs are short. This bird is very popular in the north east.
