rose ring parakeet
There are many species of parakeets in india of which the rose ring is the most common It is large and well proportioned. The male has dark chin stripe and with a fine red eye ring, its tail is long and blue green. The female is similar but lacks the chin stripe. In flight this parakeet shows yellow green wing linnings, it is usually seen in large flocks, this breed is very familiar, but it is also a victim of illegal bird trade. A nuisance to agriculture since it destroys the crops and fruits. The nesting is done in trees and man made structures it lays 3 to 4 eggs that are incubated for 22 days.
