Isabelline shrike

This shrike has a weak mask. Most common all over India has pale grey brown upper parts with brownish wings that show little contrast with the mantle and often have the white patch it has pale lores and a defuse only behind the eyes. Its underparts can range from faint rufous to strong orange cast in the flanks . In the female ear coverts are paler and the dark scaling on the breast and flank are faint. This shrike is found in single in deserts, scrub and open grasslands near water and also in cultivated lands. This shrike is not like the other which has a dark patch around the eye brow . It only has a thin black line from the shoulder touching the eye. This bird is mainly insectivorous. It feeds on small vertebrates. It lands from its perch and cathes its prey from the ground.
