About Stockvault.net

Stockvault.net is a stock photo sharing website where photographers, designers and students can share their photographs and images with each other. Stockvault's sole purpose is to collect and archive medium and high resolution photographs that designers and students can share and use for personal and non-commercial designs.

For years Stockvault.net has catered it's visitors with free imagery, "ready to use" web layouts and logos and helped those who don't have the means to turn to the royalty free agencies. We are in no way trying to compete with royalty free stock, but rather to fulfill the need for "somewhat" free stock imagery.

Stockvault's History

Stockvault has it's roots dated back to 2001 when graphic / new media designer and amature photographer, Bjorgvin Gudmundsson, started a small online gallery with his own photographs under his personal site, www.b-man.dk

The main idea was to collect and provide these so called "stock photos" for designers and students to use in their artwork and "Photoshop battles". This concept is still in use here at Stockvault.net, but the photo gallery and user base has just gotten a bit bigger.

In 2003 Bjorgvin registered the domain www.stockvault.net and moved the gallery of photos (not that many back then) to a brand new and automated image gallery software, as the old one was static and 100% manually updated.

During the next 3 years the gallery slowly kept growing and various photographers and designers started submitted their own images to the gallery. The site also went through a few re-designs, always improving and focusing on free designer- & webmaster resources.

Today Stockvault.net offers designers & photographers to sign up and upload their images via fully automated back end. Visitors can also register as members to access advanced features such as; light boxes, rating and e-mailing the photos.

For the past year, the site has served over 5.000 unique visitors on a daily basis with peeks of up to 50.000 visits on a single day.

This is the direction stockvault.net will be heading in the future. - More free stock photos for personal and educational use. - A lot of user submitted quality content.
