Shikra
Shikra is a small raptor which resembles a goshawk, I have often seen this bird on the ongc nhava road at Navi Mumbai. This bird has beautiful eyes which are reddish yellow with a black spot in the center as I have said many times the eyes of a shikra reminds me of the eyes of our late legendary Bollywood actress Madhubala. Shikra has a long tail but wings are short, the male is on whiter side while the female is heavier then the male it has a dark brown color, it also has a lovely color on the breast which is orange white. Voice of the shikra is very low similar to the voice of a drongo, the mating season is frm march to June. The nest is similar to that of the crows. The incubation period is 18 to 21 days.
