Shikra

The word shikra originates from persian language meaning a person who is blessed with sharp eyesight or a skillful hunter. It is a small raptor or you can say a small bird of prey. It is mainly found in Asia and Africa and it is also called a bandid goshawk it has round wings and a narrow long tail with a pointed beak. This pointed beak is used to hunt lizards squirrels and other small birds. The shikras nest is found between march and June, it found on a mango tree cock tree or tamarind tree. It lays 3 to4 eggs. The eggs are pale blue and oval shape. The incubation period is for 3 weeks.
