The desert is often viewed as a scorched, barren wasteland that is largely unlivable. The combination of the harsh temperature extremes, lack of resources and shelter make desert life quite difficult, but many nomadic tribes and societies have lived in the deserts, and even in the most inhospitable conditions, some form of life still thrives.
The barren areas of a desert are where little vegetation grows due to lack of water or shade. However, these areas play wonderfully in photography, because of the soft sand against the crisp blue sky. The way the sun reflects off of sand is just incredible, so photographers often love to capture the beauty of otherwise inhospitable deserts.
