The past and present are interesting things. We can learn from the past, but we can’t change it. If we try to live in the past, we won’t be able to move forward with our lives, because the past begins to fade, or decay.
This concept of decay works well in photography, because the elements of decay (rust, mold, broken objects, etc) are also great photographic subjects.
It’s fitting that as we move towards a new year, we learn from the past and put it in the proper context for the future, but also understand that the past decays around us and we have no choice but to move forward in time. Here’s some interesting examples:
