Hey guys, today I have a new set of monochrome wooden backgrounds that I created from old wooden panels. They were used to block windows on an old building and have been subjected to the elements for quite some time. The surface of the panels has become worn and chipped, creating some very nice grunge features.

I decided to make them into low-key images with a dark vignette, perfect for gritty backgrounds. The monochrome effect makes them much more usable and not depended on any special color themes. The size of the textures allows them to be used for website backgrounds, fullscreen hero elements and prints / digital art as well. There are some great details in the images that you can either blur or sharpen. Depending on how you want them.

This set has 6 high quality images that you can download by clicking the samples below. You can also download them all via Dropbox at the bottom of the post. If you like them, please leave a comment or share this post with your audience. Thanks!

  • Thanks so much for all of the wonderful photos you post. I had great good fun with the last two here today taking them into PhotoShopE and using AutoTone 2X to turn them into what look like sgraffito or scratch board renderings. The white lines against the dark backgrounds are just terrif. The next to last one especially ends up looking like a futuristic tiger with several nostrils…:) (Couldn’t find a place to upload the photos though…

  • Very nice photos. Ideal for many types of background. Especially for phone or desktop. I shared this article on my LinkedIn. I really like the texture. It gives like a chalkboard feeling. Well done
