Hey guys! Today I have a set of free dead coral textures from Iceland that probably washed ashore many years ago and is now displayed at a rock and mineral museum in the east part of the island. I believe this is the first time we post coral textures, but if you need more images of coral, please visit our main gallery.
Short facts on Corals:
Corals are marine invertebrates that typically live in compact colonies of many identical individual polyps. Each polyp is a sac-like animal typically only a few millimeters in diameter and a few centimeters in length. Over many generations, the colony thus creates a large skeleton characteristic of the species. As no sunlight ever reaches the corals located around Iceland, they filter their nutrition from ocean currents.
As you can see, the corals in the images below have seashells and other small shells attached to it, which makes them really appealing and abstract. I had fun making these and I hope you can find good use for these textures in your future projects. Enjoy!
