Description
The wife and I were traveling on the Eurostar train from London to Paris Wednesday morning, November 21st. The trip was fine in England and thru the Channel Tunnel or "Chunnel". But while traveling thru France the train slowed to a stop. A lady's voice came over the loudspeaker saying they were having a bit of technical problems with their signaling equipment and we would be underway soon. Fifteen minutes later the train started moving again. The lady came on the loudspeaker again and said due to the technical problems we would only be doing about 20-30KPH for the next few kilometers. We didn't think anything more about it and after a few kilometers we were up to full speed. We arrived in Paris 45 minutes late. The following day we were leaving our Paris hotel to go to dinner when I caught glimpse of an English language newspaper in the lobby. The headline read "SABOTAGE". It seems striking union members set the signaling equipment on fire in protest. I'm sure glad they didn't screw with the tracks themselves. That train does up to 180MPH! Here's the full news story of the sabotage event from the International Herald Tribune...
http://www.iht.com/articles/20... And you'll notice at approximately 14 seconds into the video some of the workers I saw repairing the equipment. I saw many more but didn't catch them on camera.
