Many new digital SLR cameras now have the ability to record video. To really learn how video works, we need to understand how motion pictures, and this video explains (and includes a sample of) the 1st motion picture made in modern times. Eadweard J. Muybridge (also called Edward James Muggeridge) was commissioned by Leland Stanford in 1878 to prove that a horse indeed raises all its legs from the ground when running. FPS, or the number of frames per second is an important factor of determining perceived speed of video.
