Sean Wheldrake, City of Toronto Manager of Cycling Promotions, and Constable Scott Mills, Toronto Crime Stoppers Community Youth Officer team up to register bikes at Smart Commute NTV's 'Bike to School' Lunch. http://smartcommutentv.ca The lunch is to celebrate Car Free Day at York University Keele Campus, Toronto, ON Canada Monday September 22, 2008.Over 60 cyclists from York U dropped by to learn more about cycling, get their bikes tuned up, register their bicycles online with Toronto Police at http://TorontoPolice.on.ca (click on photo of the bike to register from your computer any time) and learn how to anonymously report information about bicycle thieves and shady pawn shop dealers through Toronto Crime Stoppers' 'Don't My Bike Goof' campaign.1. Register your bicycle online in Toronto with the police by clicking on the picture of the bicycle at http://torontopolice.on.ca 2. Print a copy of the registration to keep in the event your bicycle is stolen.3. If your bicycle is stolen and you see the person stealing it, this is an emergency and you should call 911 stating this is a theft of a bicycle in progress requiring immediat police attention.4. If your bicycle is stolen and you do not see it, this is NOT an emergency, however reporting the theft to police is required by calling 416-808-2222 (non emergency Toronto Police Serivce number) 5. If you have information about shady pawn shop dealers who may be fencing stolen bikes or info on bicycle thieves, you are encouraged to talk directly to the police in your area by calling 416-808-2222. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can submit your information through Crime Stoppers and have the anonymity protection of the Supreme Court of Canada.
