Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudry has said that for majority of the people, Supreme Court is symbol of hope. In last four months some things in the national history have been changed forever, the chief justice said in his opening address to the inaugural session of a workshop in Supreme Court auditorium here. Addressing a workshop of Law and Justice Commission here, chief justice said: "We have proved American Prof. Keith B. Collard wrong who had said that no one in Pakistan ready to die for protection of the constitution." Chief justice said that he is stating this with pride that not only judiciary and over 90,000 lawyers but the civil society also ready to sacrifice for supremacy of the constitution and the rule of law.It is a historic moment and "we should not let it slip," he said. He said no one should be allowed to take unconstitutional or extra constitutional measures.Chief Justice said that people are looking towards the bench and bar; now they should set the direction for good governance and unbiased accountability.
