A daylong class on thermal imaging for fire ground operations was held during the 102nd New York State Association of Fire Chiefs Annual Convention and Expo. The session, which was held in both classroom and mock field settings, was used to instruct firefighters across New York State on how to properly utilize the newest thermal imaging technology. All objects emit infrared energy. The camera helps a firefighter distinguish between cool and hot objects. It is a high-tech field device which assists firefighters to detect life, saving lives.
