Description

This deserted beach is not easy to get to. A long and grueling hike through Volcano National Park on the Big Island of Hawai'i is the only way to enjoy this private surf haven. unless you have a boat. we didn't. so it was 8 miles of hiking through old lava fields with camping gear, surf boards, camera equipment, etc. The surf break is called mermaids because after each wave the current magically caries you right back to the line up. The music is "Ghost Town" performed by The Specials
