Description:
Located at Wilkin Street Temuka, Canterbury, Father Luis Fauvel inspired construction in 1879 with idea framing the design of a church in France at Coutances. It is famous for its bell tower at 121 feet high. This an be seen from 32 miles/ 51.499 008 kilometers away. It houses three copper tin bels cast in New York in 1818 at Meneely, West Troy.Their weights respectively are 1100,5501,3501 lbs. Individualised Inscriptions bear the name of the roman Catholic Pontiff Leo, Father Fauvel along with another. Another architectural feature is the are the 31 full sized images of Saints from both biblical testaments in stained glass windows.It can seat 600 and got considerable mention in the Timaru Herald at the time it was finished in late 1879.
