Drop down menus are a useful concept for designers. It allows for a complex, more organized and often more intuitive menu structure that can contain a larger amount of content, without disturbing the whitespace or minimalism of a design. Although it’s certainly possible to overuse or misuse drop down menus by adding far too many links or by creating complex structures that serve no real purpose, when used properly, drop down menus enhance a design.
