Hang on to your nuts by Bob Garas.

Hang on to your nuts

Congratulation Bob, the winning image is incredible. So were most of the contest submissions this year, and finally I want to express my gratitude to all the photographers that took part.

I also want to thank the guest judges for their work:
Damien van Holten of reaact.net
Darren Hester of pixelperfectdigital.com
Andreas Climent of andreascliment.com

Your photo is FANTASTIC!! The subtitle made it even better! Great shot. How did you do that? Do you have a pet tree frog? Again, I loved the photo….it definitely is the winner. bye now, joy

I dug up this old interview with Bob where he explains his methods of shooting bugs and critters. http://www.apogeephoto.com/jan2003/bgaras.shtml

    ONE MORE TRY !
Is this site not called,,, ” STOCK ” vault ?!?
    Bob’s pic looks ” staged ” to me ?!?!?

    please explain !

  7. Bjorgvin Gudmundsson says:

Yes it is called stockvault. A stock photo can be staged, there’s nothing wrong with that. What exactly is your point?

  8. yves says:

    My point is,,,
staged pics is kind of like, Milli Vanilli,,,
    It’s cheating !

STOCK = AS IS / NOT ALTERED /

  9. Bjorgvin Gudmundsson says:

If you took the time to read the interview I linked to above, you’d see that Bob does not manipulate his images.

And I would also like to add that a “stock” photo can surely be altered, manipulated, staged and whatnot.

Here’s a link to Wikipedia’s definition of “stock photo”: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stock_photo

The term “stock photo” has nothing to do with how the images are composed. It’s rather a statement of usability.
