Photography doesn’t always come easy. I remember watching “Chasing the Light” with David Noton, and he described a trip to China where he spent 2 weeks camped out in the mountains, waiting for the perfect lighting. As the days went by, he began to grow worried that the moment wouldn’t come before his supplies ran out, but he finally got a break in the clouds which caused beautiful godrays to reflect off the snowcapped peaks.
However, it’s not always the weather or lighting that causes issues for photographers, it’s the location. To get the perfect shot, it is sometimes required to contort yourself into an awkward position, or to wade into a stream, or to hike to the top of a mountain peak.
Here’s 30 examples of photographers who had to get creative with their positioning, while also posing for a photograph.
