Bridges are incredibly important, not only for facilitating transportation over bodies of water, but also for their architectural design. Most people associate bridges with simply crossing water or other areas, but bridges also play a key role in influencing design and even the surrounding environment. It is because of this incredible importance that many bridges actually become landmarks, such as the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City or the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.

Bridges often display cutting edge engineering and design, and the idea of crossing a bridge also plays well as a metaphor in art and photography.
