1. Website that link to your Site - number of sites that link to your site, especially if it's related to your website and has a high page rank; is a good way to boost your ranking to search engines. They are called backlinks; it tells the search engine that your site is very important, and they will put you to higher spot.

2. Targeting the right Keyword - targeting the right keyword is another technique to boost your search engine ranking. Ex. If you are selling fruits like Mango, using the word mango as a keyword in your site is not a good thing.

The keyword "mango" has a lot competition, when you search it in Google, try to add some words to the keyword mango like "sweet mango"," sweet mango fruit", with this it will give you a greater chance of ranking higher for that keyword.

3. HTML tags - Adding SEO tags to your html page or article content is also another trick to optimize your page. Some of the tags are:

Title tag <title>Sweet Mango fruits</title>
Heading tags <h1>Sweet Mango Fruits</h1>
Formatting tag like bold and underline
Filename and Alt tag for your images
Ex. <img src="sweet-mango-fruits.jpg" alt="image of sweet mango fruits" />

4. URL - a good URL structure can help your site; have more visibility in search engines.

Ex. http://www.akonsite.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=44&

This is not a good URL structure for your site. Instead of the above format, try to change it to this.
