PSD to HTML Help
Article by Marion Joseph - February 28, 2009
The phrase PSD to HTML refers to the conversion process of changing a design to an html page. The task is also known as PSD to XHTML because they can be coded into XHTMl web pages as well. Photoshop files are the most commonly used file formats by graphic designers, and are easier to convert to web pages since they contain all font information for text used on the page, such as fonts and font sizes.
The different layers in a photoshop also help when coding graphic files into html web pages, because web pages are usually layered as well. CSS is used to syle web pages, so the process may also be called PSD to CSS as well. CSS is usefuly to have stored in a seperate file, known as the stylesheet, so it can be used universaly for all web pages in a site, and easily updated to change every page at the same time.
When doing CSS Coding, it is recommended to make sure your webpage and CSS stylesheet validate against W3C Standards, to help ensure that the code will work properly against browsers that adhere to their standards. It is also important to make sure web pages render correctly in popular browsers, such as Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari.
PSD to HTML services offering XHTML Coding vary in price and quality, so be sure to check out their work and testimonials to see which one is right for you. They should at the very least make sure your page renders correctly in the major browsers, and validates to standards set by the W3C. The more important to know if you want to convert image to html is that your visitors use different browsers so you should make sure your page looks the same in as many of them as you can.
