Learn to Be Organized!

Article by Bryce Hitchen - May 08, 2009

When building a site or developing anything online, where there are multiple components, it pays to be very organized. Keep all of your components together and keep accurate details of access usernames and passwords, at hand. Personally I use a mix of files, folders and spreadsheets to keep my links and connections together, and I usually keep a folder on my desktop with all my "complete" sites inside.

There is nothing more frustrtaing that trying to remember passwords, usernames, and file locations, and when you get them wrong, it can be a small nightmare. This all takes time to organize obviously, but if you develop this habit as a matter of course for each project, it very quickly becomes second nature. The time it can take to remember things, and "try" to locate items, can be far more intensive than setting this process up from day one.

The concept of being organized is an easy one to comprehend. The practicality of doing it, seems harder. I am told that there can also be a major difference between men and women when it comes to effectively achieving this, but I am not too quick to buy into this theory, lol.

I do however buy into the practise of knowing that to be organized is far better than to not be. Learning from personal experience is all good and fine, but why go down this road if you can trust what someone is saying. It is a lot quicker to believe and implement, than to doubt and learn the hard way.
