How To Make My Own Video Website

Article by Louis Ogio - October 04, 2009

Would you like to make your own video website but aren't sure how to go about it? There is an easy way to do it using free software so it won't cost you anything to get started.

The easiest way to make a website these days is by putting up a blog. Wordpress is the software of choice and you don't even have to worry about installing it. If you have your own domain and webhost, go into your control panel, find Fantastico, click a couple of links and your blog will be automatically installed.

If you don't have your own webspace, you can use a free blog on the Wordpress site or on Blogger. If you don't like the look of a blog, you can customize it easily so that it looks just like a website and it is super quick to do.

Once you have your website ready, you will need some videos. If you don't have your own, you can find tons of videos on sites like Youtube that let you embed them onto your website. All you have to do is copy the embed code supplied by Youtube and paste it into your video website.

You can also make your own videos and put them on your video website. Use whatever camera you have available and upload your movie to your hard drive according to the instructions that come with your camera or phone.

Once the video is on your computer, you can easily edit it by using Windows Movie Maker that comes bundled with the Windows operating system. You can add text to your video, cut parts out, add music and make many other effects with Movie Maker. When finished, the program will convert your file into one that is acceptable on Youtube.

Uploading your video to Youtube is the easiest way to place it on your video website by embeding the code. If you host the movie yourself it will eat up a lot of your web space and bandwidth.

Making a video website is one of the easiest sites to make because you do not need to write articles and make graphics. Just shoot a quick video, upload it to Youtube, embed the code and your page is finished in a matter of minutes.
