1) First decide if you allready havent what your subject is going to be. Is your site going to be dedicated to a hobby? or will it be a money making site? etc. This will decide what direction you take.
2)Make sure to use keyword friendly words..hey after all you want the search engines to find you right?
3) Register a domain name that is easy to remember and as short as possible.
4) Fill your site with content. This is the part where you can truly put your stamp on it. You fill it with relevant material for what you are selling or wanting to show.
5) If you want to see money rolling in then you should think about placing Google Adsense on your site to make money.
