Do�s and Don�ts of Web Design

There are so many options available when creating your website design. Some are good and some are bad. Here are lists of things that you should do and things that you should not do in your web design.

Do's

1. Just keep your layout simple

2. Use a consistent layout or structure across all your web pages

3. Be creative and be original. It would look better if you make your own web design. By doing it yourself it is something that you can be proud of.

4. Try testing your web pages to different browsers.

5. Create your images small so it will load faster on the network.

6. Double check your spelling and proofread your web pages.

7. Do make your pages readable and viewable. Resolution of 800 x 600 is much recommended.

8. Have a good content.

9. Do match topics with your web pages

10. Make sure you provide a link back to your home page

11. When using links, try to have good reasons for doing so.

12. Provide a site map page

13. Make your color and graphics theme consistent on your whole website.

14. Try to organize the texts of your pages.

15. Make sure your whole site have a good navigation system and make it consistent.

Don'ts

1. Don't use too many graphics and unnecessary images

2. Make your web pages free from background music

3. Do not create an automatic pop-up windows, it will only annoy your visitors

4. Don't overuse your emphasis like all caps, italic, blink, marquees etc.

5. Your body text, don't capitalize all the letters.

6. Do not use too many colors on your website.
