Building a website can and should be fun. It doesn't matter if you are ultimately building a website to make money or to make friends and share ideas. You should still enjoy the process. Website building can seem daunting at first, if you look at it as a chore. Look at the positives. You are the boss. You control the look and feel of your website. You are the chief designer and editor. Ask anyone that has built a website how they felt when their first fledgling webpage was posted on the internet. They probably couldn't wait to have their friends and family check it out. The sense of pride and accomplishment you will feel is very real.

Here are 10 reasons why you might want to create a website:

1) To ditch your current job. Do you enjoy going to work everyday? Become a successful internet entrepreneur and you could say good bye to the rat race.

2) Set your own income level. Do you make enough money? Would you like your earnings to be based on your efforts and your expertise and not on some arbitrary outdated payscale?

3) Supplement your existing income. If you like your job, but could use some extra money, a website working 24/7 could help you out.

4) Work when you want to work. Would you like to be able to set your own work schedule? Are you a night owl? Schedule your work around your life, instead of the other way around.

5) Be able to stay home with your kids. Do you have young preschool children. Would you like to be home when your children get done with school or help out with field trips?

6) Live where you want to live. Do you want to move to a different area, but are afraid you couldn't find a decent job? Would you like to travel and still earn a living? You could run your business from anywhere.

7) Make a website for family. Build a family tree. Post pictures. Have birthday, graduation, wedding announcements. Share stories, recipes, crafting ideas. You get the idea.

8) Share your favorite hobby with others. Are you passionate about your hobby? Build a website showcasing your expertise. Interact with others that share similiar interests.

9) For your club or group. Post club news, meeting minutes, announcements etc. Talk about about upcoming events. Recruit new members. Collect dues.

10) Host a Forum. Are you passionate about or an expert in a certain field? Start a forum and share your ideas and receive input from your readers. Support a cause or a candidate.
