4 Ways to Market Your band

Article by JunoSama - October 29, 2009

1. Create YouTube Videos

YouTube has become a powerful force in the music industry because it allows bands to potentially reach thousands, even millions of viewers. At the very least, you can most likely get a few thousands visitors to each video and if you are lucky enough to see your band videos go viral you could get millions! Try filming concerts, interviews, behind the scenes footage and so on and then upload it all to your YouTube account so you can find new fans! Be sure to link to your band home page and brand your profile for maximum results.

2. Podcast Interviews

A lot of music bloggers, magazines and music related websites do podcasts with bands, so why not try pitching your band to them? Even if you are not "famous" yet you still could do podcasts and it can be a great way to find new fans and promote your latest cd. Try and make a list of all the sites and podcasters in the music industry and then send them a professionally written email when the time is right about your band.

3. Create a Social Profiles

Social networking is more important than ever. While MySpace used to be king, other sites have appeared that are also great. You should still create a MySpace profile to promote your band, but you should also set up accounts on other popular websites such as FaceBook, Twitter, StumbleUpon, Ning and social sites specifically for music like LastFM. Its a great way to showcase your music and other media content to hep attract new fans.

4. Release a Free Song

Sometimes releasing a free song can be a good thing. If your song is really good and it is distributed all over the place, it can become viral. People will then want to hear your other music, which will hopefully be as good or better as your free song release. This tactic has been used by a lot of bands, especially new bands to gain massive exposure in a small amount of time. The Internet is more viral then ever and with a little push a good song can bring you tons of new loyal fans.
