Web Page Design Tip 1 - Let's talk about the general design of our web page. The home page or any other pages that you want to have a visual impact should fit into a 700 X 500 pixels, anything much larger than that and you can lose your visitors in all the info. Use graphics to break up large areas of text but don't put so many graphics on your web page that it causes delays in downloading, you want your page to download quickly. A simple but unheeded web page design tip, make sure every page in your website uses the same pattern, you all your web pages to look like they belong there.
Web Page Design Tip 2 - This tip is centered around the text that you use. One of the things I make sure I do on all my web pages is to keep the text columns narrower than what you might find in a book. Make sure the background doesn't intrude on the text, the text needs to be large enough to read yet not so big as to create a distraction (unless that's your specific purpose).
Web Page Design Tip 3 - When designing the navigation for your site it needs to be easy to use and provides your visitors a clue as to where they are on your site. Feel free to use frames if they are not to distracting, you want your visitors to be available navigate your site but you don't want to distract the from your website's primary purpose.
Web Page Design Tip - 4 What is a graphic? A graphic can be a photo, a button to sign up for or purchase your product/service, a background or anything else that isn't text. When using graphics make sure they all have an alt label, buttons should not me large or goofy looking, graphic link need to have a text link that matches it and all animated graphics need to turn off by themselves.
Web Page Design Tip 5 - Just a quick note on links, make sure the are underlined and that the colors match the page.
I hope you've found a web page design tip or two that will help you in the future, remember common sense goes a long ways when building your web page.
